QB Jacoby Brissett is a very interesting prospect for the 2016 NFL Draft. A senior, Brissett is a two year starter at N.C. State after transfering from Florida. In the 2014 season, he threw for 2,606 yards while posting an impressive 23-5 TD-INT ratio. However, his completion percentage was only 59.7%. So far in 2015, Brissett has a completion percentage of 64.0%. In addition to his improved completion percentage, Brissett has thrown for 1,798 yards while posting a 14-2 TD-INT ratio.
Brissett is a smart player who does a great job of protecting the football. He is a big QB, standing tall at 6'4" and weighing 235 lbs. Brissett is very shifty for his size, and he has the ability to keep plays alive with his legs. He displays a strong arm that is surprisingly accurate downfield.
Brissett needs to improve on his footwork and overall mechanics. His mechanics are what lead to his inaccurate throws. He has a long, slow delivery and he often holds the ball too long. He sometimes tries to do too much under pressure, which leads to dangerous passes and risky decisions. Brissett also needs to go through his progressions quicker.
Despite his shortcomings, Brissett is perhaps the most intriguing day three prospect on our board. He is a fourth round QB with a lot of upside. He has a good platform of skill sets to build off of going forward. Look for his name to really heat up as we get closer to the draft.
